In a significant breakthrough, Bhojpur police have arrested Gautam Kumar Rai, the key suspect in a shooting that erupted near the Piro registry office on March 24. This violent altercation, linked to a longstanding land dispute, resulted in four individuals suffering serious gunshot injuries, while three others sustained minor wounds.
Ara: The Bhojpur police on Friday arrested the main accused in the firing case near the Piro registry office, in which four men sustained serious gunshot injuries and three others received minor pellet injuries on March 24.Bhojpur SP Raj said, “The main accused, Gautam Kumar Rai alias Suraj Rai, has been arrested. The reason behind the incident was an old land dispute between two rival sides over a piece of land.”Police have also seized the single-barrel rifle allegedly used by Suraj Rai in the firing incident. Two live cartridges and a car have also been seized from his possession.“Through speedy trial of the case, it will be ensured that the accused gets punishment as per the provisions of the law,” said a statement issued by the Bhojpur police.The arrested accused is a resident of Piro under the same police station area of Bhojpur district, though he originally belongs to Bachri village under Piro police station.
